Portsmouth Wind Symphony concerts take place in the main theater of Shawnee State University's Vern Riffe Center for the Arts in Portsmouth, Ohio with the exception of Sunday's Christmas (Ironton High School Auditorium) and the 4th of July Concert (Tracy Park in Portsmouth, Ohio).
Reflections on the Ohio
SEPT. 28 @ VRCFA
The Ohio River has been the Tri-State’s lifeline for over 300 years. In April, the conservation advocacy organization American Rivers labeled it as an endangered river. PWS shares its love of the river and rich history with a unique folk and symphonic music program. We will donate a percentage of proceeds from the concert to heighten awareness of the plight of the Ohio River.
Come in costume and get your scare on as the PWS celebrates Halloween with a Haunted Carousel, Mysterious Village, and the story of The Witch and the Saint. Children 12 and under, who attend our concert in costume, receive a free goodie bag.
Join the PWS and Portsmouth West Choir to celebrate the holidays with Music from Frozen, Sleigh Ride, and Ottorino Respeghi’s La Fantastique Boutique. If you bring a new toy for donation, you will receive a free ticket with the purchase of another.
Celebrate the majesty and grandeur of the blue marble with a concert celebration of nature and landscapes. Hear the Ohio premiere of Mexican Composer Nubia Melina Donjuan’s Migrating Monarchs. The first 100 audience members will receive a reusable shopping bag.
Nothing goes together better during the Fourth of July than music and food. Enjoy a concert of patriotic, film, broadway, and jazz music in the park will enjoying food from some of the Tri-State’s fabulous food trucks. Join us in celebrating what makes America such a special place.
